Electrofusion Fittings
Electrofusion Fittings for HDPE PE100 Pipes (Water &
Gas)
Electrofusion fittings are used to join HDPE PE100 pipes by melting and fusing
the pipe and fitting material using built-in electric heating coils. After
preparing and inserting the pipe ends, an electrofusion control unit applies
current, creating a strong, leak-proof, and permanent joint.
They are widely used in potable water and gas distribution because they are
corrosion-resistant, hygienic, durable, and suitable for installations with
limited excavation space. Properly installed joints can last 50+ years and meet
strict safety standards for pressurized networks
How it works:
1. Preparation: The pipe ends are cut square, scraped to remove the oxidized
layer, and cleaned.
2. Insertion: The pipe ends are inserted into the electrofusion coupling or
fitting.
3. Fusion: An electrofusion control unit (ECU) supplies a programmed electrical
current to the fitting’s built-in coils, heating the HDPE material.
4. Cooling: The molten material from both pipe and fitting fuses together and
cools, forming a permanent, pressure-resistant joint.
Benefits:
• Leak-proof and strong: Produces a joint as strong as or stronger than the
pipe itself.
• Corrosion-resistant: HDPE and the fusion process are unaffected by water,
chemicals, and soil conditions.
• Minimal excavation space: Ideal for trenchless installations (gas and water
pipelines in urban areas).
• Long service life: PE100 pipes with electrofusion fittings are designed to
last 50+ years under correct conditions.
